  • Competitive Leagues
  • Dorothy Bruno Hills (DBH) - Women’s doubles only league. Practice is on Monday or Tuesday, matches are on Wednesday or Thursday at 9am.  This league travels to compete against other teams. The season runs October - March. Tryouts are conducted in early September.

Central Mass Indoor Tennis Association (CMITA) - 

  • Fall/Winter Season: Weekend traveling league. Singles and doubles for both men and women. Practices are during the week nights. Matches are played against other local teams on Saturdays. 
  • Spring League: Weekday Daytime Traveling Women’s only league

USTA:  Summer traveling league that offers both singles and doubles match play. Matches are played on weeknights which are dependent on your level. The season runs from mid-May through July. Some distance in traveling may be required if your team makes playoffs then districts.

  • Singles Flex League: is offered to men and women from an advanced beginner level to the advanced level. This is an in house league. Players are grouped with players of the same level. The format is a round robin style. You schedule your own matches, making it “flexible.” There are 3 sessions of flex league beginning in the fall.
  • Club Champions: is a singles tournament style format. Club Champions is for men and women of a variety of levels. Club Champions is an In house league, and is offered only in the Spring. Brackets will be set up for the players who will play a back draw if eliminated.
  • National Tennis Rating Program:

NTRP Level 1.5-2.0 New to tennis/never played.

NTRP Level 2.5 Beginner. Can rally a bit.

NTRP Level 3.0 Advanced Beginner. Beginning to play competitive tennis.

NTRP Level 3.5: Plays in competitive leagues and teams.

NTRP Level 4.0 Plays competitive recreational as well as league tennis.

NTRP Level 4.5-5.0 Very high level of play. Tournament as well as league tennis are played.

Clinics

We have a variety of clinics designed for all levels. We offer Men’s and Women’s clinics, during the day, night and on weekends.

  • Beginner Clinic: All basic stroke production will be taught. Drills constructed for teaching forehands, backhands, volleys, and serve will be given. Scoring and court positioning will also be introduced.
  • Advanced Beginner Clinic: Drills working on stroke mechanics will be covered. Forehands, backhands, volleys, and the serve will be worked on. Some doubles strategies will be covered.
  • Intermediate Drill and Play Clinic: This clinic emphasizes doubles tennis. Drills are created to work on point play. Players will work on tactics in doubles as well as strategy. Advanced Intermediate Clinic: A clinic working on doubles tactics and strategy, with drills designed around match play.
  • Advanced Drill & Play Clinic: This clinic is based around tactics and strategy, with drills constructed around match play, and point play.
  • Singles Clinic: A clinic where the drills are designed to teach the fundamentals of singles play. Court positioning, point construction, tactics and singles strategy will be taught.

The Longfellow Tennis Club offers top quality ball machines to help you improve all aspects of your tennis game. Our Playmate Slam and Ace ball machines are the best in the industry. The Slam machine is also equipped with a lift allowing it to serve you with a variety of spins up to 120mph.

Enhance your Playmate Ball Machines experience with the Like My Drill App. This app allows you to wirelessly control the ball machine and create your own custom drills through your iPhone® or iPad®.

Ball machines can be rented by the hour, or become a member of our Ball Machine Club. You can schedule your ball machine rental through the front desk at (508)653-4606.

  • Early Bird/Night Owl

Effective January 1, 2024, we have sold out of current EB/NO memberships to ensure everyone can get court time.

We offer flat rates for unlimited play all 7 days of the week before 9am and after 8pm. Court reservations may be made 7 days in advance for a maximum of 1.5 hours per day. During Early Bird/Night Owl hours, members may bring guests for the regular daily guest fee plus their portion of court time. Regular members who are not Early Birds will also be charged for their portion of the court rental fee.
